ba.fnu

ba.fnu stands for bal folk nuevo: a fresh approach to bal folk where tradition and modernity meet. Expect familiar bal folk dances, infused with beats, samples and electronic influences, inspired by tango nuevo and electroswing.

Their repertoire combines Breton and Czech dance music, including revived traditional Czech dances. As both dancers and musicians, they build a bridge between old forms and contemporary dance, with deep respect for the original material, always adding a fresh twist. ba.fnu plays on Saturday at Dansstage.

Yanyk

Diato & fiddle: the ultimate French folk dance combo at your service. Earthy gavottes from central Brittany, light-spirited rounds from Poitou and Pays Gallo, gentle Gascon mazurkas… and more! Yanyk provides perfect blend of traditional songs and original compositions to please trad-heads and neo-fans alike. Known for its raw energy since 2016, Yanyk is appreciated by dancers all over Europe, from Spain to Lithuania.

Mikuláš Bryan has been playing the diatonic accordion since his return from Brittany in 2010, both solo and in various bands home and abroad. Jan Bartošek has his roots in American folk music, but he works in a number of local and international music projects on the border of genres. With his bands, he also collected several major Czech music awards. Yanyk will play on Friday at the Dansstage.
